Drama Scholarship awards vary from school to school, but those lucky enough to be the recipient of one can expect some very special treatment indeed. Usually, scholars are carefully mentored with a fast-tracked training, a programme of tailor-made events to enjoy, the status of ‘role-model’ and an expectation to offer hands-on support to staff during school productions and on other key occasions. Undoubtedly, a drama scholarship looks impressive on an educational CV. Few places are offered; success requires preparation and talent.

I spent over 10 years leading my department’s scholarship auditions at Ibstock Place School and have been invited to be a scholarship panellist at Ewell Castle School for the past two years.
